Aroid Mix (Indonesia Blend) - High-Silica Airy Potting Substrate with Rice Hulls, Tree Fern & Biochar. Excellent for Hoya too (#117)

| /

In 2020, while everyone was scrambling for rare imports from Indonesia, I was obsessed with the dirt they were grown in. The plants were absolutely stunning, better than anything I had seen anywhere!

The plants coming out of those nurseries weren't just healthy; they were structurally superior. After connecting with growers over there, I realized their "mix of convenience" was actually a high-performance silica engine. We took those traditional Indonesian formulas and handed them to Dr. Voss (our resident Soil Wizard). She stripped out the compost, added Tree Fern fiber and Biochar, and the result is Tezula #117.

This is an exceptionally light, airy mix that holds a surprising amount of moisture exactly where the roots need it, without ever becoming "muddy."

THE THREE PILLARS OF MIX #117
Organic Silica: Rice hulls are the natural solution for plant resilience. Dr. Voss explained that the thick stems and strong cell walls we saw in Indonesian imports came from this high silica content—something we’ve supplemented for decades without realizing the organic answer was right here.
Root Aeration: This mix creates massive air pockets. It’s designed for growers who want to water thoroughly without the fear of suffocation.
Moisture Management: Unlike traditional soils that vary with the weather, this mix holds a set amount of water. Whether it rains for a day or you have a heavy hand with the watering can, the structural integrity prevents root rot.

COMPOSITION
Parboiled Rice Hulls: For silica and permanent macropores.
Tree Fern Fiber: High-end moisture retention with elite "root grip."
Biochar: To stabilize the ecosystem and buffer nutrients.
Zero Compost: We removed the "slump" factor. This mix won't collapse over time.

GROWER’S NOTE:
Because this mix is so porous, if you grow in very dry indoor conditions, you will need to water more frequently. It rewards the "active" grower who likes to interact with their plants.
