Please read full listing description to avoid any disappointment.

Orchiata Users - This grade is a bit bigger than "Precision" and a bit smaller than "Classic"

PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT SOURCE BLEACHED PERLITE (Yes, it's apparently a thing, who knew!). THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT BE SPARKLY WHITE! EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED THE BLEACHED FORMS ARE COMPLETELY INERT, WE LIKE THINGS AS NATURAL AS POSSIBLE!

THIS PRODUCT IS GRADED - This is the one we use in house for all our plants that need a finer chunkier mix than most but still demand the properties of a chunky mix. It is also the mix we use for all our pots up to 4 inches and smaller. It is graded by hand to remove all the smaller chunks (no particles less than 3mm) and a huge amount of the dust. If you have ever had to deal with clouds of perlite dust in the air, you will really appreciate this option! this is the most widely used size by growers who use chunky mixes.

WE WILL ONLY SHIP THIS PRODUCT IN A BOX! SHIPPING IT IN A MAILING BAG TO GET CRUSHED BY OTHER PACKAGES WOULD BE A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. AS WE HAVE TO USE A BOX WE HAVE TO CHARGE A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN WE WOULD LIKE BUT IT IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET THIS PRODUCT TO YOU SAFELY WITHOUT IT BEING PULVERIZED.

WHY ON EARTH DO YOU GRADE YOUR PERLITE?

I really want to say "Because we are nuts about plants and want to keep our growing mix as consistent as possible" but even though this is true, we had to start grading out of a need for a more consistent product.

Anyone notice around June 2023 chunky perlite became nearly impossible to find? For unknown reasons one of the best producers in the industry closed their doors. This producer did one thing different to all the other producers, their grader was towards the end of the production line so the finished product was far more consistent and true to its specified grade. We have tried countless other vendors and the consistency has ranged from not bad to us checking our orders to see if we accidentally ordered a bag of dust instead of chunks!

We finally found a producer that was fairly close to our original supplier, but even though they were way better than all the other producers we tested, a quarter of every bag received was still not true to size.

If you are looking for regular raw perlite #3, please see our other listing

It is impossible to get truly dust free Perlite, but for those of us with expensive collections and plants that require chunky mixes, consistency is essential.

We have been grading our perlite by hand for 8 months now, and never planned on selling perlite, but so many of our customers have reached out to us asking where we get ours from because it is so consistent that we decided to start offering it.

If anyone has found a brand that is very consistent, please kindly share their name with us, grading perlite by hand is tedious, dusty and back breaking!
