We are releasing these plants early as they keep on being snapped up before they can reach maturity making our attempts to offer mature flowering plants impossible. The price for these plants as juveniles is the same as that for mature plants. Juvenile plants do not show the dark coloration of adult plants so they will need to be grown up. These plants come directly from our retail partners Silver Krome Gardens and are from the True Dark Form Ace Of Spades.
PLEASE NOTE, LIGHT INTENSITY PLAYS A MASSIVE ROLE IN THE INTENSITY OF THE ADULT LEAF COLORATION. THE FIRST PICTURE IS A SAMPLE OF A MATURE PLANT GROWING UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS TO BRING OUT THE DARKEST COLORATION POSSIBLE. DARK GENES WILL PRODUCE DARK LEAVES UNDER ANY LIGHT, BUT LOWER LIGHT CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE INTENSITY. THE REMAINING PICTURES ARE AN ACCURATE DEPICTION OF THE SIZE OF THE PLANTS AVAILABLE. THESE PLANTS ARE ALL SHIPPED FROM THE LARGEST AND FULLEST TO THE SMALLEST, IN OTHER WORDS, GROWERS CHOICE.
The True Dark Form trait in Ace Of Spades is extremely recessive and accounts for less than 5% of all the Ace Of Spades seed produced, which is why we prefer to only sell these until they are large plants so we can make sure they are as described. During the height of the Aroid boom buyers were paying full price for seedlings despite our warnings, we did not like this and are going back to the previous system where only mature plants are sold. All plants sold under this listing will be the REAL Ace Of Spades Dark form. Images in this listing show examples of plants previously sold and these will be a good example of what to expect when these are released.
So what do the remaining 95% of the seeds look like you ask, they don't have that dark coloration and are just a regular, sometimes more elongated velvety green. I believe collectors have resorted to naming this form the "Green Form"
Ace of Spades is a gorgeous Anthurium, there are so many copycats floating around at the moment due to its high demand but these are all from the original plant from Silver Krome Gardens. The leaves just glisten as if ever so lightly dusted with sugar and the newly developing leaves can exhibit some very beautiful coloration as they mature. This is a wonderful plant which is an absolute show stopper when grown to specimen size and is sure to catch anyones eye. Plants will be well established in 6" pots. Please note these leaves are very delicate and we take considerable care to ensure the leaves are protected while packing. With that being said, the mail carrier may not be as careful as we are so there is a small chance there might be some minor, non detrimental damages to the leaves from shipping when the plant arrives. these plants will NOT be in hanging baskets, only regular 6" pots
Anthuriums are very easy to grow in the house. Keep them evenly moist, but never soaking wet or bone dry. Fertilizer regularly with a general purpose, soluble house plant food. Anthurium do best in a north or east window or under bright, indirect light.
At this time we are unsure if this listing will be Growers Choice where orders are fulfilled from darkest largest and fullest to smallest, or if each plant will be listed individually. Description will be updated closer to the time to reflect our decision.
